Leverage the power of AI to build complex customer segments in seconds—no manual filtering required.

Overview

Our new AI-Recommended Audiences feature, powered by Donnie (our AI assistant), simplifies Customer Data Platform audience creation. Rather than clicking through dozens of attributes across multiple data sources, you simply describe the audience you want, and Donnie builds the filters for you.

Key Benefits

  • Speed: Generate segments in seconds, even across multiple data sources.

  • Ease: No need to understand every attribute or operator.

  • Learning: View the suggested filters to learn how to craft your own manual segments.

  • Seamlessness: Use the feature both in the CDP Audience Builder and directly within the Outbound Campaign Creation flow.

Prerequisites

  • You must have access to the CDP Audience Builder or Outbound Campaign Creation menu.

  • Your account should be connected to at least one data source (e.g., POS, online orders, custom uploads, surveys).

1. Accessing AI-Recommended Audiences

In the CDP Audience Builder

  1. Navigate to Audiences in the main CDP menu.

  2. Click Create New Audience.

  3. Select AI-Recommended instead of Manual Builder.

In Outbound Campaign Creation

  1. Start a new campaign or edit an existing one.

  2. In the Audience step, choose AI-Recommended Audience.

  3. The UI will slide in Donnie’s prompt area without leaving the campaign flow.

2. Generating a Simple Audience

Example: “Customers who rated us greater than 3 stars on surveys.”

  1. Click the AI-Recommended tab.

  2. In the prompt box, type:

Customers who rated us greater than three stars on surveys

  3. Hit Generate.

  4. Donnie will:

    • Scan all available survey attributes.

    • Apply the “greater than” operator to the star-rating field.

    • Display the filter logic along with an explanation.

  5. Review the filters to understand how to build similar ones manually.

3. Generating a Complex Audience

Example: “Customers who have made an order in the last 30 days.”

  1. In the AI prompt, enter:

Customers who have made an order in the last 30 days

  2. Click Generate.

  3. For complex requests, you may notice a slightly longer processing time—Donnie steps up to our more powerful model behind the scenes.

  4. Review the results:

    • Donnie will identify and combine order data from all connected sources (e.g., POS, online ordering, loyalty).

    • You’ll see the generated filter set and its rationale.

  5. If you’re not satisfied with the first pass, click Try Again to use our strongest AI model for an alternate take.

4. Reviewing & Saving Your Audience

  1. View the Preview Count to see how many customers match your segment.

  2. (Optional) Click View in CDP to inspect individual customer records.

  3. To make adjustments:

    • Use Edit Filters to tweak manually.

    • Hit Reset & Try Again to regenerate with a new prompt.

  4. When ready, click Save. Donnie will prompt you to name and describe your audience.

5. Best Practices & Tips

  • Be Specific: The clearer your prompt, the more accurate your audience.

  • Use Examples: If you’re not sure of the attribute name, describe the behavior (e.g., “placed an online order”).

  • Learn from Filters: Expand the suggested filters to see how operators and fields map to your data.

  • Iterate Quickly: Don’t hesitate to hit Try Again for alternate filter logic.

  • Stay in Flow: Use AI-Recommended Audiences right inside the outbound campaign builder—no context-switching needed.
