Creating Express Survey Links

Created by Team Momos, Modified on Mon, 21 Aug 2023 at 05:29 PM by Team Momos

Introduction

The Momos Survey has customers go through the following steps:

  1. How did you place your order with us?
  2. Which location did you place the order from?
  3. How Would You Rate Your Experience?
  4. [If "Delivery" was chosen] Which food delivery platform did you order from?
  5. Provide us your contact information

By adding certain parameters to the end of the survey link, you can "auto select" certain options to give your customers an expedited survey experience.

For example, in the "How did you place your order with us?" step, customers are given the choice to select their dining method.

If your survey is meant exclusively for customers who dine-in, you can have it so that the "Dine-in" option is automatically selected.

Customers will not see the "How did you place your order with us?" step and instead be brought to the next step immediately.

Creating the express survey link

To create the express survey link, you will have to affix certain text to the end of your survey link.

There are three affixes that we will be using to eliminate the first two steps of the survey.

Do take note that the first affix you add to the end of the survey link must be supported with a "?". Subsequent affixes must be supported with a "&".

For example "?serviceType=dine-in&lat=123&long=123"

AffixAccepted value(s)
serviceTypedelivery, dine-in, takeaway

longlongitude coordinates (e.g. 103.78889323050005)

deliveroo, foodpanda, grab, grubhub, doordash, ubereats, other

Additional, if you are directing surveys from an api (e.g. from your POS) here are additional affixes that you can use to automatically fill in more information.

AffixAccepted value(s)

plain text, use %20 in place of a space (e.g. john%20doe)

Here is what an express survey link may look like:

While this may look complex at first, it is fairly simple to create. Let's look at it step by step!

Auto-filling the dining method

In this example, I want this survey to skip having my customers click on "Delivery".

  1. Let's get our survey link!
    1. Head to the Surveys page in Momos - https://web.momos.io/surveys
    2. Click on the QR Code of the survey
    3. Click on the arrow icon in the pop up
    4. Copy the survey link
  2. Next, let's add in the serviceType affix and have it set to "delivery".
    1. Paste the survey link (can be in a notepad, the address bar or anywhere convenient)
    2. add ?serviceType=delivery to the end of the survey link
  3. [Optional] We can also auto-fill the food delivery platform option by using the platformaffix.
    1. To do so, we would add &platform=foodpanda after ?serviceType=delivery
    2. You can replace foodpanda with the food delivery platform of your choice
  4. Copy and paste the whole survey link to your address bar. If successfully affixed, you should see the "Which location did you place the order from?" question after starting the survey
    1. Your survey link should look like this

While this example used "delivery", you can replace it with "dine-in" or "takeaway" as well.

Auto-filling the dining location

Similarly to the dining method, we can customise the survey to automatically select a certain outlet location.

We can do so by specifying the latitude and longitude coordinates of the location.

Momos will automatically choose the location that best fits the coordinates provided.

  1. Get our survey link and paste it on a notepad
  2. Get the latitude (lat) & longitude (long) coordinates of your location and paste it on a notepad
    1. Google your location's address and go to "Maps"
    2. In Google Maps, right click the red pin. The first option in the dropdown is the latitude & longitude coordinates. Click it to copy it to your clipboard
      1. The first value is the latitude, the second value is the longitude
  3. With our survey link and coordinates, let's create our express survey link
    1. Add ?lat=[lat coordinates]
    2. Add &long=[long coordinates]
    3. Do take note to replace [lat coordinates] and [long coordinates] with the latitude & longitude coordinates you got from Google Maps. In this example, it would be
      • ?lat=1.3719911397197073&long=103.89196895619547
  4. Copy and paste the whole survey link to your address bar. If successfully affixed, you should skip the "Which location did you place the order from?" question after answering the "How did you place your order with us?" question.

Combining both auto-fills

You can combine both the affixes to create a survey that auto-fills the dining method and dining location for the customer.

Do remember that the first affix must come after a "?". Subsequent affixes must come after a "&".

To recap, we now have the serviceType=delivery and the lat=[lat coordinates]&long=[long coordinates] affix.

You can simply combine them together like so ?serviceType=delivery&lat=[lat coordinates]&long=[long coordinates]
